Stylish Winter Dressing Clothing Tips

The gray skies and cold winds that seem to go on forever are signs that winter is upon us, and are dreaded by many women. However, contrary to what many women think, this doesn’t mean that one should have to cover up in big, warm, bulky, unappealing clothes that do nothing for one’s figure. Plus-sized women struggle more with this issue as many plus-sized clothes are bulky and unattractive to start with. Yet you can still look stylish in the winter if you know what items you should be shopping for.

Dressing in layers is a great way to keep warm this winter. Instead of wearing thick, bulky sweaters, try thinner tops with some stretch to them. They sit close to your skin and make you feel cozy but still able to move. Top it off with a thin sweatshirt or sweater you can zip halfway down when you are inside. This combination looks very put together and can take you from shopping inside the mall to Christmas shopping outside as well.

To add some style to your look, try wearing thick opaque tights with a skirt. Dependent upon the thickness of your tights and the temperature outside, you may be able to get away with a shorter skirt. Black tights are a perfect wear to show off your legs and when paired with a good pair of solid, leather boots, you’ll be able to brace the winter weather. When it is really cold, wearing thick tights underneath your pants will make a huge difference, making you fell much warmer. In this way, you could also wear your favorite pair of thin trousers during the winter, and not have to retire them until warmer days.

If you are a plus sized woman, think about avoiding waist-length coats. Thigh-length peacoats make a great alternative and are a fashionable choice. They are really stylish and will also keep you warm. A basic black coat is always a good option, or you could try something a bit more extravagant depending on your tastes. Remember, if you feel good when wearing something, you will probably look good in it too! Another style to try is a long, woolen, ankle-length coat. Check the cut of the coat to see if it has a slight flare at the bottom and to see if it fits you well, with few wrinkles. It can be easy to find a coat that is a bit boxy, but just look for one that hangs well on you and that doesn’t look like a tube!

Worry more about icy roads and snow during the winter than your wardrobe. If you take the time to plan ahead and think outside of the box, you’ll be set for the tough winter months.
