Maitanance for Spark Plugs

Sometimes our cars need some modification such as little repairs and updating parts. This is done to keep the cars in good condition for it to run smoothly. But maintenance could mean an expense.

But car owners do not have to pay all the time especially when their car only needs minor repair. Some of these minor repairs can be done all by themselves like changing the spark plugs. All they have to do is to follow this step-by-step direction.

For spark plugs change, car owners should check for the right tools to be use. They must have the replacement spark plugs, socket spark plugs, wire gauze spark plugs gap tool, anti-seize thread compound and dielectric silicone compound. The size of the socket plugs should be the same with the size of the spark plugs and the spark plugs gap tool is optional.

Car owners can be guided by the vehicles repair manual. First thing they need to do is to remove the spark plugs wire by pulling carefully or with a spark plug wire puller one by one. This way the wires would not be mixed. Car engines can be hot so they must let it cool first before doing anything in it.

But before removing the spark plug, they must be sure that there is no oil or dirt that may fall into the spark plug hole. Then, remove the spark plug with proper socket tool and turn it clockwise to be loose. Next, install the new spark plugs by turning it tightly with their hands first. This way theyll know that they are not cross-threading.

Then they may use the socket wrench that they use to loosen the spark plugs to make it tighter. Then attach the spark plugs wire in it and check that it is firmly plugged in. Lastly, start the engine to make sure that it is now running smoothly.

Finding the body of a car that is worth all the labor intensive process is selected for restoration and modification. To improve a car to almost showroom shape car restoration is performed through grinding, banging, sanding and patching. Rust needs to be exposed and grinded away before repairs are carried out in the sections affected. If rust had affected the car body a lot then the entire piece or panel will require to be replaced.

Plasma cutter, welder and a metal shrinking tool are used in the designing, welding, smoothening and shaping of new parts to cover up the old rusty ones. Cloudy headlights need to be cleaned as the safety of people using the car at night rests on clean and performing headlights. When engine oil leaks a sample is taken and a few drops dribbled on a white sheet of paper for examination.

Oil leaks are usually black while automatic transmission fluid and power steering fluid are red. Windshield washer fluid is blue in color while anti-freeze can be either green or brown. By feeling the leaking oil one can determine whether it is very oily. This would mean that it is a lubricant. Engine oil leaks mess the driveway of the car owner and can be a trigger of engine damage if not diagnosed. Frequent oil leak though points to developing problems that need to be fixed by professional mechanics.

What To Do After Being Hit By Another Car

Auto accidents are very common currently. Fast driving, not obeying traffic rules, unqualified drivers, terrible state of roads, weather conditions, and not well maintained cars are few of the reasons of accidents. We all must drive prudently and carefully, still, if we face an accident we should know what to do at once after the incident.

In case your car is hit by another car, you may be going through a lot of mixed emotions like anger, fear, aggressiveness etc, however, the best thing to do at that time is to calm yourself down and take a deep breath. Immediately after you come back in your senses, you need to take a look at your body and the other persons which are with you. If you got an injury, don’t make a delay in calling for an ambulance right away.

The next step should be to contact the police. It is always wise to contact police even if you involve in a small mishap. Don’t disappear from the sight unless your file is completed. The police have power and are accountable to inspect the incident and create a detailed report. In addition, wherever any information is required to someone the police give complete information. Police information is always useful for the insurance group to process your claim promptly; therefore you should always give it a priority.

To clear your state, take snaps of the place and exact spot. You can do it without any difficulty if you have fitted camera in cell phone. Record the information of the crashing car like its shade, model, and registration number. Also write the information about driver including name, contact information, and cell number. Drawing the incident on the paper will also be valuable. You should draw it carefully remembering the sides from which the cars are approaching and how it really occurred. If there is some viewer, note his/ her name, address, and contact number. The eyewitness is valuable if the other driver don’t commit his mistake even if he is at fault.

After this, you must call your insurance company. It would be good for you if you call them when the police officer is present on the scene. The officer can explain the whole occurrence better than you as you may not be in your complete senses to narrate the event to your insurance company’s representative. This way your insurance claim will be processed quickly and it would save your precious time. After this initial process by the insurance company, you need to continuously follow them for the claim.

If you involved in a minor accident then to keep yourself at bay from hassle, don’t make a contact with the police and straighten out the issue all by yourself. The one who makes out he/she is guilty should pay damages to other, otherwise, everyone should follow the lengthy procedure and that will not be worth your precious time.

On the other hand, the money may be coming from the insurance company for the repairs, but keep in mind you have to control the repairs. You might also get less money than the market value for repairs.

It is noticed that people do not study the insurance rules carefully when they acquire it. You should study the insurance policy prior to signing it, because when the accident takes place you sense the value of payment issue from the insurance party.

Frequent Reasons of Car Accidents

Everyday there are thousands of people across the globe who encounter car accidents. In USA alone, there are over 6 million car accidents every year! Almost 3 million people are injured as a result. Most of the time, the cause of the accident is some kind of negligence on the part of the driver. Distractions also divert the attention of the driver leading to an accident.

There are various things which can distract your attention when driving. Currently, cell phones and other gadgets tend to distract the driver’s attention while driving. Either they are cell phones, laptops, or CD player, they allure the driver or he takes his eyes off the road and hence at times ends up in encountering an accident. The nature of accidents can be grave or mild. However, no matter what the intensity of an accident may be, it may cause financial as well as physical threat.

In order to minimize road accidents and their consequences, we need to drive vigilantly without being distracted. Because of extensive use of gadgets while driving, many countries have banned the use of cell phones while driving. Alternately, hands free ear buds are being encouraged to use while driving.

Besides gadgets, there can be many other distractions as well. One may even get distracted while talking to a friend or family member in the car. You can also get out of focus if you are involved in deep thinking. All these and many more contribute to diverting the attention of the driver and lead to a car accident.

One more very common reason of car accidents is alcohol. A lot of people end up in serious road accidents as they are drunk and are not able to drive properly. Alcohol does not let you remain in your senses, and can therefore create severe issues while driving. You may feel tiredness, lack of focus, and the failure to judge distances when you are drunk.

Rubbernecking and tailgating are other common causes of car accidents. Rubbernecking implies slowing your car to look at something while driving like a road accident, or some interesting sight on the road. When you slow down your car too quickly, the car which is behind you often bumps into your car as the other driver does not get enough time to slow his car as quickly and suddenly. This leads to serious accidents involving a number of cars sometimes.

A number of times, the cause of a car accident is mechanical failure or road conditions. The mechanical problems in your car could be minimized by maintaining your car and inspecting its mechanism every now and then. For road condition as well, you can take alternate route or travel carefully while driving on bad roads.

You can also decrease the other causes of car accidents by avoiding use of cell phones, laptops, or other gadgets while driving. You should also tend to be less inquisitive when you are driving, so that you do not have to slow the car suddenly which may lead to accident. For alcohol lovers as well, they can drink as much as they want, but when they have to drive they should try not to drink.

Protect Your Garage Floor The Easy Way

If you’ve been wondering how to improve your garage, you might not think that there are many options. After all, aren’t garages just plain, boring rooms? This may be true, but there are still a few ways you can spruce up that old garage.

Perhaps the biggest thing you can improve about your garage is the floor. Garages, much of the time, have simple, plain, ugly concrete floors that act like a sponge for all sorts of spills, stains, cracks, and more. How can you deal with this issue?

Fortunately for you, there are many options available for garage floor coatings. Each can either be installed by yourself or by a professional. In this article, we will briefly look at each of the options, discussing the pros and cons of each one.

The first option we’re going to look at is mat coverings. These are simply vinyl mats that roll out to cover your garage floor. The are easy to install, and provide good protection. However, they can also trap dirt and moisture underneath, which is a downside.

The second option is tile coverings. These are just like the mats, except that they are segmented in interlocking tiles. These are even easier to install, and have the advantage of being able to be repaired more easily, since its just a matter of swapping out the tile.

The third, and perhaps the most popular option is garage floor epoxy. Garage floor epoxy is simply a layer epoxy that is painted over your floor, sealing it form moisture and spills. This is easy to install, once the floor is clean, and it provides a good seal. However, it is somewhat vulnerable to heat and certain chemicals. Still, though, this is a good option.

Obviously, there is not one right way to finish your garage floor. All these options are an excellent way to improve the utility of your garage while increasing the value of your home. All in all, a great home improvement project for anyone to take on.

The Best Way To Drive In Bad Weather

Many accidents occur every day in different parts of the world. It happens because of the mistake of driver, or sometimes because of environmental conditions around. However, in bad weather conditions such as snow, fog, or rain the chances of accidents relatively increase. Statistics show an increased number of accidents in bad weather conditions compared to a normal sunny day in all parts of the world.

The simplest way to keep away from accidents in bad weather is not to drive, and just delay your trip till the weather conditions get back to being drivable. You can get together information about the weather by watching weather forecast on news channel, looking on the internet, or even listening to radio. However, if it is inevitable then you should keep in mind certain tips to prevent accidents in bad weather.

How are your tyres?

“Bald tyres” is a cause of mishaps on a rainy day as they decrease traction and give small resistance to hydroplaning. It is extremely recommended that you test your vehicle’s tyre on regular basis, particularly before going out on a journey.

Turn on your wipers

It is smart to get new car wipers annually, since improper wiper blades do not appropriately clear water from the windshield when in bad weather, and hence obscure your view. It is also better to use windscreen washer. It is somewhat cheaper and offers enormous safety benefits as well. What’s more, don’t trail behind large buses or trucks as their splash and spray can block your view, and can add to the odds of accident. Preserve safe car distance while driving, (remember 3 second rule) and keep windshield wipers turned on.

Turn on your lights

In poor visibility, headlights should be turned on as it helps in increasing visibility and let other drivers know about your position as well. In rain or foggy conditions, it is mandatory to keep headlights turned on. You may see other cars without lights, but you can’t say about others if they have proper windshield wipers and clear visions as good as yours.

Foggy windows

When there is severe humidity or rain, the windows of your car fog up. Due to this, you must switch on the defrost mode. It will defog the fog from the windows. If your car does not have AC, then open your side windows to get the air moving. All new cars made now have rear window defroster to clear misted rear windscreen, if you don’t have this then by keeping the defroster high the hot air will do the trick for you.

Expressway driving

It is always suggested to keep plenty of distance from the car in front of you, but in rainy circumstances it is extremely recommended so that if you have to hit the brakes you have plenty of distance from the car to let your tyres lock up. Drive in the first lane if feasible as you would come across fewer cars in this lane and less oil deposits.

There are a lot of other tips you should know of while driving in bad weather. Your car should be in pristine condition before you plan to drive. You should test tyres, brakes, and windshield wipers before you commence your journey. Drive slower, switch lights on, preserve proper distance, keep windscreen wipers on in rain, and don’t follow buses & trucks are some of the tips you should keep in mind while driving in bad weather.

Repo Car Auctions – Truths You Ought To Know

With repo car auctions, owning a good quality car does not anymore need to eat all your savings.

If you are concerned why cars offered for bidding at auctions of repo cars are so cheap, you should know that the government and financial institutions have taken hold of these cars because their owners did not meet their financial obligations on time. In order for them not be at a loss, they offer these cars for public bidding so they can make money out of them. The cars, therefore, are not damaged or anything as you may think.

Repo car auctions have been around for some time, but not a lot of people have come to take advantage of them until recently. They have become more popular nowadays which can be a good thing and bad thing. The good thing is that more people are able to afford the car they have always dreamed of; the bad thing is that it is very likely that several other people will be bidding on the same car, increasing the bid price.

If you consider this situation, auctions of repo cars do not guarantee that you will get your dream car. It is possible that someone else who also happens to be attracted to your dream car will outbid you. So, here are some tips to help you get ahead when you are at a repo car auction.

One of the first things to do is find out the date when a car auction will be held in your area. Although it does not always indicate that being early will guarantee your winning in the bid, you will be at a better bidding position if you come early.

Now that you know there is a forthcoming car auction in your area, find out next when pre-bid events will be held. Most, if not all, car auctions, have pre-bid events that allow interested bidders to take a look at the car before the actual bidding takes place. You must go to one, and if you are not really adept about cars, bring a mechanic with you to inspect the car for you.

Documentation is important, so before going to car auctions, make sure that your dream car has all the required legal documents. This should give you more security and confidence in case something unfortunate happens and you will be required to produce such documents.

Check out my site to find out how you can make repo car auctions work to your definite advantage.
